The aim of the project (implemented in two parts) is to re-integrate self-isolated deaf people into deaf community and society in general, to motivate their return into work market and solve their socio-economic problems independently therefore decreasing their social exclusion and tension in the deaf society.
The motivation programme helped to motivate deaf people for continues training or employment. The programme included: thematic activities (work, professions, psychology), reading of newspapers and magazines together, study visits to schools and meetings with deaf students, computer courses, evening lessons and discussions an contests. All activities were conducted in sign language. At the second stage of the project the activities were widened with creative workshops “Do, you can” (experience exchange, meetings with deaf entrepreneurs, master craftsmen); discussions “Work. Problems. Solutions” Meetings with Employment service, Social service workers), study visits to enterprises employing deaf people; mobile moderation programme “EU funds for deaf people”; News stories on internet in sign language and writing courses organised.

Innovativeness:

LAD used the unique opportunity to implement a motivation project and activities to return to social life an ignored part of society – deaf people. LAD offered a set of activities that has not been provided by any organisation in Latvia so far. The project had a significant multiplication effect in Latvia.
Effectiveness:

First stage of the project involved more than 12 000 deaf people, including 135 persons who got involved for the first time, therefore strengthening deaf society in Latvia. As a result awareness on socio-political processes in the country was raised among deaf people, decreased number of antisocial behaviour, increased motivation to return to work market, as well as changed attitude of the society towards deaf people. Also authority and capacity of LAD was strengthened. The project result is also increased employment of deaf people – 197 project participants have started to work.
At the second stage of the project 5293 persons participated in project events. As a result 1080 persons started to work
